Phab

There was one lovely image after another of happy, smiling young people in Phab’s latest report to us which was ‘phabulous’ to see. We supported Phab with funding towards their week long residential experience for young disabled children, where 28 youngsters (age 6-17) took part in stimulating physical, educational, social and therapeutic activities at Bendrigg Lodge, a fully accessible centre on the edge of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Many of the children and young people were able to attend independently, supported by Phab’s wonderful volunteers and staff, which in turn gave parents and carers an opportunity for respite too. Activities included canoeing, zip wire, rock climbing, swimming and paddleboarding and the evenings were rounded off with campfires, discos, films nights and much more.

All of this, we are sure, helped the participants to develop their self-esteem and grow in  confidence having bravely challenged themselves throughout their stay. We have supported Phab for a number of years and through their legacy partnership with us hope that they will be able to continue providing such great experiences to children and young people for years to come.
