Torch Trust For The Blind

Earlier in the year we were delighted to donate to Torch Trust’s ‘Together’ programme which saw 56 people take a holiday, in groups supported by volunteers, to destinations such as Poole and Scarborough. Torch support people who are blind or partially sighted – people who have lost confidence to go out on their own and for whom a charity such as this is a lifeline. Many of the people they help live alone and have few people in their lives other than perhaps a carer. Feedback from the holidays was that people had really enjoyed getting to know one another over meals and through the various activities they took part in.

Torch also offer advice and signposting, as well as a telephone befriending service which we are sure is of great comfort to those with a visual impairment.
