Oundle Mencap Holidays
A fantastic account and beautiful photos were received from Oundle Mencap Holidays (OMH) this week when we really got a flavour for how the young people we helped support had spent their time in the outdoors during the summer last year, finally having fun, after a year when many had been so isolated.
Each year OMH runs a week long residential summer camp for 40 children and a long weekend camping for 20 young adults with learning disabilities. This was especially tricky due to all the additional risk assessments and procedures that were needed to be put into place but seeing the joy on all the youngsters faces who took part in activities around a pirate-based theme really must have made it all worthwhile for the staff team and volunteers.
Canoeing, abseiling and archery were some of the activities which really require pushing boundaries but it is the charity’s aim to ‘support young people to be extraordinary’!
