Log cabins for respite

Sebastian’s Action Trust

The team at Sebastian’s Action Trust (SAT) were delighted to hear from us this week that our Trustee board has agreed a significant donation towards two residential cabins as part of a 4 phase project which will allow them to provide whole family respite at their Woodlands Centre in Crowthorne, Berkshire.

We have been a supporter of SAT and the wonderful work they do for a number of years and this project will benefit young people aged up to 19 years who have a life limiting or life-threatening condition and will allow families to experience respite together under SAT’s specialist holistic model of care, free of charge in a lovely setting.

With an estimated 99,000 life-limited/life-threatened children/young people in the UK at any time, demand for this type of respite is clearly extremely high and we are so pleased to have been able to help with their fundraising to make this happen.

Phases 1-3 of the project are already complete and provide a dedicated outreach centre together with a community café, an advice and guidance library, cinema, sensory, wellness, art and therapy rooms, woodland trails and a treehouse. Work on the cabins will commence in late spring/summer this year and will be complete by the end of autumn.
