Second Chance

Earlier in the year we helped Hampshire based Second Chance Children’s Charity with a donation towards their core costs. The charity works hard to help children, many of whom come from inner city and disadvantaged backgrounds, to discover confidence in themselves and their abilities. Some of the young people they help have learning difficulties and associated behavioural issues which have sadly seen them become excluded from mainstream education and life in general. The team at Second Chance encourage them to take part in activities such as fishing and angling at their rural centre, an activity through which they have successfully seen barriers break down and lines of communication established. They also teach independent life skills through fun pursuits such as baking and many other activities. The charity’s past efforts mean they are now seeing young people who were once with them return as volunteers to help others which is great news!
